aaron's new tools
Didn't really think Aaron would get through this harp without finding occasion for a new power tool, did you? That's a happy smile. The folks at the hardware store are learning to recognize us I think. The new router hasn't actually gotten tried out yet, though. Still a few more things to be done before that. Here we have the drilling of the holes through the soundboard (and the two reinforcing bars) that will ultimately allow stringing of the harp.
And here we have lots and lots of sanding going on to prepare for application of the trim strips on the back. They're sitting to the right, awaiting their turn at the miter box.
This shot illustrates the gluing of the trim, and also illuminates why Aaron started muttering earlier today about needing more clamps. Apparently we have only enough to do one side at a time.
Next up - trim on the front side and then use of the super-fun new router. For those who are interested in such matters, it's a Porter Cable 1.75hp variable speed router with both plunge and mounted options. With gentle start. Oh boy. Who's betting I wake up tomorrow and all of my furniture has been re-edged?

As Norm always says, "You can never have enough clamps".
What brand is the router? I can't see the nameplate.

To quote the carefully-perused text of entry:

Happy new year! What a fun project to follow--can't wait to see it, but most of all can't wait to hear it!
Aaron looks positively smitten with his new router. I foresee gratuitous routing in your future. Afterall, he's dangerously close to the dining room set....
